Pahala 9th Annual Weekend Writers Retreat: Writing for Power, Heart & Vision facilitated by writer-instructor Tom Peek, Dates TBA. Improve the emotion, depth, and potency of your work via extensive writing exercises, friendly reading of work, and engaging group discussion. Join a community of writers in a focused weekend of writing, sharing, and inspiration. Pahala After Dark in the Park Programs, Award-winning educational programs on topics pertaining to Hawai`i and its culture. Programs are on select Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. Dates to TBA. Programs are held in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park Visitor Center Auditorium. For information, call 985-6014. $1 Donation helps to support park educational programs. Pahala Qigong (chee gong) for Health: Movement, breath and mental tranquility activate the bodies natural healing qualities. Beginners Class each Monday, 5-6:30pm, Advanced Class each Tuesday, 5-6:30pm. All classes held at Discovery Harbor Community Center. Cost by donation, instructor John W. Adams, 929-8015.

Pahala Ohana Conversational Spanish Class, action-based learning in family style for all ages and all levels. Mondays 3:30pm, Discovery Harbour Community Clubhouse. Sponsored by Ka`u School of the Arts.

Pahala Peanut Butter Ministry Lunches, Wednesdays, 11:30am-1pm, Na`alehu Community Center. Soup, stew or chili, w/ sandwich, dessert and drink. All are welcome. Donations appreciated, not required.
