Pahala The Mark Twain Festival Dates to TBA. Last year it was held at the Na`alehu Theatre on Fri, Dec 9 & Sat, Dec 10, gates open at 7 p.m., program starts at 7:30 p.m., featuring Jerry Tracy and readings from Mark Twain who traveled throughout Ka`u during his illustrious literary career. The presentation is called Our Fellow Savages of the Sandwich Islands and includes ancient legends of the great goddess Pele. George Lanakilakeikiahiali`i Na`ope and Iwalani Kalima and her Hula Halau O Kou Lima Nani E will perform. Tickets are $10 and are available at Na`alehu Ace Hardware, Pahala Plantation Store and Kahuku Country Market, and at the door. 929-9244. www.naalehutheatre.org

Pahala VAC's 19th Annual Holiday Concert: A Volcano Winter Solstice, Date TBA. This is Volcano Art Center's yearly holiday gift of family entertainment to the community, featuring local talent, good cheer, and an audience sing-along. Pahala Qigong (chee gong) for Health: Movement, breath and mental tranquility activate the bodies natural healing qualities. Pahala Ohana Conversational Spanish Class, action-based learning in family style for all ages and all levels. Mondays 3:30pm, Discovery Harbour Community Clubhouse. Sponsored by Ka`u School of the Arts.

Pahala Peanut Butter Ministry Lunches, Wednesdays, 11:30am-1pm, Na`alehu Community Center. Soup, stew or chili, w/ sandwich, dessert and drink. All are welcome. Donations appreciated, not required.
